The three basic needs of humanity are intimacy with God, intimacy with others and self-worth. The purpose of the enemy’s traps and tricks is to work against these three needs. It all comes back to value. He knows that if he can get you into a state where you do not value yourself or God’s Word, your security and worth will be neutralized, and you will be of no effect to the kingdom of God.

Value is determined by how much someone is willing to pay for it. Consider how much God was willing to pay for you! He sacrificed his perfect and only Son for your restoration and wholeness. When we grasp this, we’ll believe that we are life counts and that we have something to contribute.

While Satan cannot read your mind, he will use various mediums to deceive you into thinking you are unworthy. By bringing up your past, reminding you of your failures and pointing out the damage done to you, the enemy alienates you from God and others. He is out to resurrect the “old man” and get you to forget the “new man” that you have become in Christ.

How can we remember our worth and be a contributor to God’s kingdom? First, review and recall when the title of your life was transferred into God’s hand. Think of how much He valued you, how hopeful your future became when you became His child. Then, repent. Allow Him to search you, to cleanse and restore the areas that have been damaged and devalued. Finally, rehearse your self-worth! Act like you have something to contribute, talk like you have overcome your guilt and insecurities and walk as a new man. Your past is redeemed. Your present makes sense. Your future is secure.

MEMORIZATION:
Col. 1:12-14
…giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

The more powerful something is, the more precise you need to be. Praying in the Holy Spirit is an extremely powerful element of your spiritual life. Unfortunately, people have not always handled this gift with precision or approached it from a Biblical perspective.

By now we know that the main ministry of the Holy Spirit is personal and devotional. When it comes to your prayer language, there are private, personal tongues, and then there are public tongues. This distinction must be made, or else it creates confusion and does not edify the believers involved.

It doesn’t say in scripture that all believers do or will pray in tongues; however, all of them may, and should desire the benefits of this gift. What are these benefits? Your prayer language is available anytime and for anything. It is volitional, and does not need the hype or emotion that some associate with it. Praying in tongues is for edification, building up and restoring the believer. It also enables you to give thanks well. On that note, praying in tongues is a supernatural and direct means of speaking to God. Don’t be afraid that the devil will get involved; if you are operating out of your heart and according to Scripture, it can only serve as a pure communication with God. It reveals mysteries, bringing things to light in ways natural prayer cannot. Just as some say God is a Great Physician, He can also be a Great Psychiatrist, pulling things out of you that you may not have even known. And lastly, it tunes your spirit. You will be more apt to be sensitive to and controlled by the Spirit, rather than the flesh.

Being filled with the Spirit and praying in tongues truly is a gift, in every sense of the word. If you will ask, you will receive!

MEMORIZATION:
Jude 1:20-21
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
